A living history site, Island Farm interprets daily life on Roanoke Island in the mid-1800s. The centerpiece of the site is the Etheridge farmstead which has been an active farm since 1757. Chickens range freely on the grounds, as your family explores various outbuildings, a garden and grape arbor, while sheep, a cow, an ox and two Banker ponies graze in surrounding pastures. North Carolina Aquarium Activities on Jennette's Pier
The Education Department at Jennette's Pier makes learning fun! Whether a child is a beginning fisherman or summer camper ready to ride the waves, their staff provides excellent instruction in a positive, safe environment. Veteran anglers teach everything from Family Fishing to Private Lessons. During summer camps, children will get the chance to fish, surf, paddle board, and catch blue crabs. Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education
Located within Historic Corolla Park, this Center focuses on educating the public about local history and ecology of the region as well as its hunting and fishing heritage. A film provides an overview of earlier times along the Outer Banks and the exhibits include decoy-making, waterfowl hunting and the types of wildlife on this barrier island. Outer Banks Children @ Play Museum
Designed for young children between 1-9 years old, this local museum was created for kids to learn-through-play: the Carolina Flare is an interactive exhibit has a small fishing boat with equipment and tools of the fishing industry.
