Signature Concierge Program: Beach Portraits
Dear Visitor,
The OBX is just beautiful. I appreciate you taking time to look at some of my work and inquiring about more information. First, let me describe how I work on the beach because it is not necessarily how other photographers work.
My goal is to blend in with your family. I seek to capture the true beauty of each member by allowing you all to feel free enough to be yourselves. A natural smile has so much more sincerity than one that is forced and I strive to get you all belly laughing by the end of the shoot.
*I was a kindergarten and 1st grade teacher for 2 years so if you have children in your family I love getting down to their level, relating to them and encouraging them to be comfortable and natural with me and my camera. For some reason kids have always been drawn to me and I absolutely love it. Some times I feel like I understand kids better than I understand adults!
*I ask that you, as a family, bring things down to the beach that you can interact with all together. Great items are kites, balls, frisbees and sandcastle making tools. I want your family to really enjoy your time with me and with each other. Although I am constantly moving around between activities I always have an eye on the real moments in every direction.
*As far as clothing, it is not necessary that you all wear the same thing. The only thing I ask is that you try to avoid all black or wording on your shirts. For kids, the more color the better. Bright blues, pinks and greens work really well. |

The day of the shoot, I generally take about 15 minutes to a half an hour and grab the more formal portraits where everyone is looking at the camera. I still try to make them personal, creative and less traditional than the "basic stand and smile" look. If there are micro-families within the larger family unit, I will then photograph those small families separately. Following the "formal" stuff, I like to let the kids loose and work with couples so they can return home with really nice photos of just the two of them, without the kids. Finally, I let you do your family thing. Play ball, build me a star fish, play in the water. I will warn you, the kids LOVE going in with all their clothes on. . . . it happens (without my input) at least 50% of the time so just a little prewarning. I, obviously, love it for picture sake but not all parents want to see the nice new clothes drenched in salt water.
SO, if this sounds like what you are looking for I would love to reserve your family some time. The rate is $250 for the first hour (regardless of the number of people in your family).
